The bedroom we love
Article by Furnish.bg
If we accept that we spend 8 hours a day sleeping it makes some 25 years on the average spent by us in the bedroom. Thus the bedroom turns out to be one of the most personal and important rooms in our home space. We are offering you a few professional pieces of advice by which we can turn the bedroom into our favorite place of escape from the daily round.
About the bed
The correct location of the bed is extremely essential for the achievement of the overall harmonious nature of the room. It should be comfortable above all, “set firmly on its feet”, and certainly esthetically pleasant. Swinging and swaying beds do not provide for good and wholesome sleep. The positioning of the bed within the room should be complied with the location of the door and window. Its center position creates the feeling of anxiety and unrest. It’s preferable to have the bed placed diagonally to the door in order to secure good visibility of it, and the headboard propped up against the wall. It’s preferable to place the bed in such a way that it could be approached from both sides. A single mattress lends a greater compactness, intimacy and aesthetics.
About the wardrobe
Inbuilt wardrobes become ever more topical and preferred in the bedrooms. They are more practical, more reliable and esthetic, and their capacity is by 30% larger. Sliding-door wardrobes are more convenient as they save on space and attribute to the elegance in the bedroom interior especially if their doors are mirror-glass. An attractive option is the construction of a decorative bay replacing the standard structural wardrobe and breaking up the traditional space.
About the mirror
Mirrors are preferred not just as necessary articles but also as artistic accessories for the complete visual designing of the room. Their positioning requires delicacy and care. It’s not advisable to have the mirror placed across from the bedroom door or to reflect the bed directly: a chance reflection during the night could produce an unpleasant stressful effect.
About the illumination
The bedroom illumination should be indirect, reflecting onto the walls and the ceiling and distributing soft muted light. It’s nice to have the bedroom fitted with several different illumination options: to match the different moods and hours of the day and night. Placing of illumination fixtures just above the bed is quite incorrect: direct light irritates and produces stress to the eyes.
About the colors
It’s suitable to decorate the bedroom in tender, soft, pastel colors creating the feeling of relaxation, warmth and coziness. The aggressive, vigorous and sharply contrasting colors are inadvisable. Your eyesight should rest on the colors smoothly and calmly. In order to pick up ‘your” colors you don’t need to comply with the current topical trends. Try to feel the colors’ moods: which ones of them would make you feel relaxed and would stimulate your positive mood?
The classical blue color – the color of the sea and the sky – has relaxing and calming effect. Blue walls make the room look optically larger.
Green in all its shades is considered the color of most relaxing and calming effect. This is due to the feeling of closeness to the freshness and greenness of nature.
Simple white saturates the space with air and extends the volume of the room. The white color accentuates the furnishing and accessories of the rooms.
The light and warm colors of yellow and orange inspire the feeling of warmth, light and cheerfulness.
The violet and pink bedrooms usually introduce a lot of artistry, individuality and romantics in your intimate bedroom space.
About the fabrics
All fabrics in the bedroom: curtains, bed covers, bed sheets and floor covering, should suggest softness, warmth, ethereality and comfort. Your individual view on calmness and coziness will guide you in your choice of textiles and fabrics for your bedroom.
About the topical trends
The newest bedroom interior trends visualize the designer searches towards the maximal lightening and clearing of all elements available in the bedroom. Minimalism remains the leading trend in contemporary design.
The beds are low and massive and suggest the feeling of security. The headboard heights vary from 28 to 50 cm.
The wardrobes are high, with shiny mirror-glass, glass or highly polished wood faces reflecting elegantly the bedroom interior. Sliding doors prevail, and the doors of standard closing are fitted with concealed or altogether missing doorknobs.
Quite topical are the sets of one-piece-module bed and sideboards. More and more care is given to space-saving.
Hits among the materials are textile, leather, teak wood, zebrano and ebony. Very attractive are beds covered completely in fine soft leather or cloth, with removable embroidered headboard covers.
The floor coverings are cotton or linen, in the light tones of beige and gray. Hits are the artificial hides of zebra and tiger spread at the foot of the bed.
Wallpaper is either entirely missing or rich, by all means in floral patterns, in gray and black, and with hand painted silvery or golden nuances.
Floral patterns are strongly accented in bedroom interiors. The abstract floral interlaced designs accentuate on the “ethno” spirit of nowadays interiors.
